People

Living in Singapore, I tend to forget the kind of smiles a kid ought to have. A smile purely coming from being surrounded by a family or people who care about them. Regardless of the burdens they may have to suffer in the future, they just simply live a life as a kid. Being rich in the bank is one thing, but being rich in the heart is another, of what I believe is significant for a happy life, and what money can never buy. Confronting these kids, I felt some kids in Singapore are far too stressed at a far too early stage in life.

Culture

Nuns and Monks were seen all over the city, at any time of day. It seemed a little odd, since Thai monks would normally stay around in the temples, and would not be often seen walking around in tourist spots. One monk approached us telling us that he was hungry and that he wanted some money to buy some food. This never happened in Thailand and made me think, ...maybe there are too many monks and he cannot get his share?... Perception of monarchy differs by country, maybe same goes for the monks too.
